Google has made a new announcement, in which Google is now going to close its shopping app from iOS and Android. Yes, you heard it right, Google has announced to discontinue it by June this year. However, the mobile shopping app will be available on the desktop (web) version. This means that the shopping.google.com website will remain active. The company confirmed 9to5Google’s decision on Sunday.

In an official statement, the company said that within the next few weeks, we will no longer support the shopping app. All the functionality of the app offered by the users is available on the Shopping tab. It added that we will continue to build features within the Shopping tab and other Google surfaces, including the Google app, which makes it easier for people to discover and shop for the products they love.
The mobile shopping app allowed users to choose from thousands of online stores and make purchases using their Google accounts. However, it should be noted here that the move comes as Google is expanding the shopping functionality in search, image search and YouTube, while increasingly taking advantage of augmented reality, the report noted.
